Waiwai a me Ka Ho’oulu Waiwai is a comprehensive program focused on economic growth, financial literacy, and legal empowerment for Native Hawaiians. By combining traditional values with modern knowledge, this program equips participants with tools to build wealth, make informed decisions, and contribute to the economic strength of their communities.
Empowering through knowledge, this program covers topics such as:
- Simulated Trading & Portfolio Management
- Legal Systems from Kingdom to State
- Foundations in Economics & Finance
- Tools for Native Hawaiian Business Success
Trading in Financial Markets
Participants are introduced to the principles of modern financial markets, including securities, options, and futures trading. The program includes hands-on learning experiences that simulate real-time trading on the New York Stock Exchange, along with portfolio management and risk analysis training.
Discourses in Law
This component explores the evolution of Western legal systems in Hawai’i — from the Kingdom to the State — including foundational teachings in U.S. and Hawai’i State constitutional law. Participants gain insight into civil, criminal, consumer, and antitrust law through accessible and culturally relevant discussions.
Discourses in Economics
Students are taught the fundamentals of macroeconomics and microeconomics, as well as foundational concepts in finance and accounting. The goal is to provide a solid understanding of economic systems and how they impact individuals and communities.
Discourses in Business Management
This section covers the essentials of organizational structure and behavior, legal entity formation, strategic marketing, budgeting, statistical analysis, and competitive strategy all aimed at empowering Native Hawaiians to start, manage, and grow successful businesses.
